The best moment by far is during the two weeks dedicated to International flamenco festival (end of February and beginning of March), and it is totally amazing.
All the year long you will see and hear flamenco in many places in Jerez.
Flamenco is a generic word gathering many type of danse, rhythm very much different called palos :
You think you know about Flamenco, think it gain !
Apart of that magical moment, many places (called Tablao) are dedicated to flamenco events all the year or just the week end. Here is a selection of the places we like.
The only professional show with a permanent team all the year. It is touristic but with a very good quality. Owner has changed in February, so we’ll go there in March to make sure how it evolves.
The food is clearly not their specialty, so if the option is open (depending the time of the year) just get a drink with your entrance ticket. They speak English.
More gipsy/local flamenco shows:
There is no entrance fee. If you want a table you have to order a minimum of 6/8 euros per person. If you stay at the bar you ‘ll just pay for your drink. Quality of food is ok, so generally we have dinner before at Abaceria cruz vieja (15 meters away) and at the tabanco we finish our dinner with cheese and amontillado.

There is no entrance fee. The best option for us is to follow the show close to the bar, where you pay what you drink and eat. If you ask for a table, you have to choose a menu around 30 euros, which is for us very excessive and with a very bad value.

Ask them what is the plan for the days of your stay, they usually have live music and dance Thursday, Friday and Saturday for lunch and dinner. If you do not feel comfortable in Spanish, we ll call them. Let us know !
Go as well to the Tourist Office (Plaza del Arenal, Tel 956 33 88 74 Office hours: 9am-3pm, 5pm–7pm and they let you know very well in your own language.
