Some of the Local wine we like from south Andalusia
A nice option to try a wine from Jerez is to get it directly from the barrel (en rama it is called)

You can sample several wines and understand what Sherry wine is about without doing the full tour of a Bodega. We like very much their Palo Cortado.
If you want to try some wine from different area in Spain, we suggest you Ribera del Duero, Almansa, Jumilla, Toro, not as know as Rioja but very often interesting
We do like wine ! So we pretty often we buy them online (not for the local ones) on the website www.decantalo.com, or http://www.vivino.com
what about trying a local Vermuth:
A little bit further away of the plaza Plateros (in front of a good fruit and vegetable shop in Jerez). They specialized in seafood in can from a couple of very good factories in Barbate and they have a very good tap Vermuth or from Lustau
Check out if they are open (and do not trust just the web site), they change all the time; on a Friday and Saturday evening it is safer to book in advance, as well as in July and august, Easter, during the flamenco festival and the GP moto…
The first restaurant, right after, is really something you can’t miss at the only condition that high gastronomy interest you

What telling you without being over positive ?
This restaurant has only 6 tables (so yes reserve it in advance), 2 waiters very professional, 2/3 cooks and 2 gastronomic menus. Menus are in between 75 up to 90 euros and matching wine in between 30 euros to 40 euros. The chef really put all its talent to magnify local products. Everything is perfect, the service, the attention, the food obviously and amazing wines. So If you have something to celebrate it could be the place.

Just on the side of El Bichero. Aside of the classicals, they have some very good vegetables (arcichokes ..) and they are renowned for that. You can try the different “guiso” : carrilada, menudo, albondigas… For fried fish El bichero is much better
C. Consistorio, 12, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Tel : 956 320 256
Local kitchen, good ingredients with modern touch. A nice terrace (inside is a little bit noisy for our taste) and some interesting wine. What else can we ask for a reasonable price ! Booking a table in the terrace is necessary but they do not do it over phone line, you have to drop by !

Above all the raw products (seafood, meat …) are really prime quality and they cook it perfectly. They are innovative and sometimes a little bit too much colourful in the plate. A little bit more expensive than Albores but the price is perfectly justified and the overall quality is higher than Albores. They do not specialise in desert, like almost no one in south of Spain : this is normal.

Tradicional restaurant with modern touch owned by the same family for many years. The three brothers works there and provide you with talented local revisited recipes. It is just outside the historical center of Jerez, on the main road to Sevilla. They have a large terrace and it is easy to park there.
Eating real beef (T bone, entrecote …in Andalucia is not so obvious) There is no culture of letting the meat rest during 30 days resting. They find their meat in the sierra of Cadiz (in between Grazalema and Bolonia to simplify) For a nice piece of good meat, this is one of the place, not the cheapest but value is ok. You can try as well the different option of Iberic pork which is much more in the culture of the area. They have very good testing menu based on local wines, this is definitely worth to try. The wine list is awesome for all the local wines (and we have a a lot), and last but not least the vast majority can be sample by glass (not only bootle)

This is a nice restaurant with local products and clear touch of south east Asia. Everything is well executed. It is an option for Vegan lover as well.
