To give you a shortcut, the following wikipedia article is interesting :

La Plaza del Cabildo (where is the big fountain) is the main area of the pedestrian center and it is full of tapas bar and restaurants with so many options that one will fit you.
We like very much
and many other dishes you’ll see in the display or on the wall’s menu. You can try as well a glass (or more) of Manzanilla en rama (Sanlucar dry local white wine directly from the barrel, It is named Fino in Jerez). You have to choose a waiter at the bar directly, ask for what you want and come back as many time as you want and pay after. You’ll see he will write it down on a paper or directly on the bar when it is not overcrowded. Unfortunately it is so famous for the tortilla de camarones within the entire province that during rush time you re really have to wait. But the good point is that quality don’t change all the year round
Other options we like around Plaza del Cabildo
Good food and good value
best non industrial ice cream experience you can have in Sanlúcar
to us the only good pizza in Sanlúcar
5 minutes away walking from la plaza del cabildo
Plaza de la Salle 5, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tel: 956 363 10
It is really a local bar where the owner actually try and eat its products, nothing fancy, just delicious
Av. del Cerro Falón, 32, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tel: 956 38 91 47
It is a restaurant, slightly outside the center we know for ages, truly we did not put it in our recommendations initially but our guests suggest it to put it there ! It is true that what goes out of the kitchen is nicely prepared with taste. They work very well the tuna fish and the Retinto beef.
If you wish to buy fresh good products:
you can go to the impressive fish market in la Calzada from tuesday to saturday (you can park underneath la Calzada) it is a minute away of plaza del Cabildo. On Friday and Saturday prices go up 10% !
Calle de la Banda Playa, 82. Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tel: 956 381 150
They have permanently iberic pork (try Presa and Pluma two different parts) and Iberic ham (within the huge Bellota range as well), on demand and generally for the friday and saturday farm chicken (real one), and more interesting part of the Iberia porc (higado, solomillo …). They have as well some prepared cuisine acceptable, sorry it has never the same taste than what you do at home with love. (but you can try el salmojero, atún encebollado…)
Just on the side of the butcher Infante, you ll find a fish shop, they open usually in the morning and two hours in the afternoon (around 7/9 pm). You ll find it very small and with very few products, it is a good sign ! they have fish and shrimp when boats are getting back to the pier. Quantity limited here !
Sanlucar de barrameda, Chipiona, Bonanza, la colonia… are known as well for the quality of its local vegetable, People recommend potatoes from la Colonia, clementine from chipiona …
In the city center you have many small vegetable shops that sell local product as well as the fresh market. Personally we go
Wine from the area:
For Manzanilla, and its family wines, the bests bodegas where to buy “transportable” Manzanilla (meaning sterilized, stable wine) are
Calle Mar, 8. Sanúcar de Barrameda, Tel. 647 76 59 87
Their best manzanilla are San Leon and La E
Av. De Rocío Jurado s/n, Tel. 956 36 05 43
Their manzanilla is called La Goya
For red / white wine and gourmet products
Calle Mar, s/n. Local 4, Tel. 956 36 43 08
Otherwise for wine directly from the producer we have neighbors ! ask us
Sanlúcar de Barrameda has two centers, the other one is in the upper city (called Barrio Alto is smaller), it is 8 minutes away walking from Plaza del Cabildo. It is very much ignored by tourism, so enjoy it !
You ll see many wine factories, one of them can be visited : Barbadillo, We like the visit, not the wine!

Calle Jerez, 46, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Calle Caballeros, 11, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz ; Tel : 651 14 16 50
The restaurant in right in front of the city all and around bodegas. We like to have dinner there during summer time on the patio. They have a gastronomic menu a little bit marketing. More seriously the menu is composed of revisited cuisine of the area and well executed. Wine list is poor, what a pity!.
Calle Manuel Hermosilla, 2, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda ; Tel : 672 02 25 80
The restaurant is in between the city center and Bajo de Guia in a small street that leads to the beach. A year ago we recommended this restaurant for its different “rice …” that were really good. They now master and invent much more than that in a modern style cuisine. You can try the different form of tuna fish, slow cooked eggs …. Definitely worth trying it
If you want to have dedicated fish restaurant you have to go 3 minutes away off the city center in the area called Bajo de Guia (along the beach and river). You can park there without any problem and then the area is pedestrian. The best time to be there is at sunset, because you are right in front of Doñana park and have the sunset on the river and the sea at the same time. Depending of the time of the year you might have some mosquitos.
we prefer the bar outside (but they have a restaurant as well)
at the bar you can try
The very traditionals are as well
Have “manzanilla en rama” as well ! (The natural one). Bigote is THE REFERENCE, it maintains a very good value and the brothers have been working there for the past 30 years. It is not more expensive than the other, but they try to be always a little bit innovative (within an area where traditions don’t change at all) with the best product you can possibly find. If you want to have some space at the bar inside or outside come early
the other restaurants in Bajo de Guia where we go as well :
The only one where you can find a little bit of meat is : El Mirador de Doñana, First restaurant on the pedestrian street.
and at the end of this pedestrian street (Bajo de guia) (1 minute walking at the end) , you have 5 cocktails bar
Café Azul, is a good option where you have really a couple who make cocktails for the past 30 years, Ambiance is slightly older as well.
If you do not want to be in the crowd (but very close of Bajo de Guia)
Callejón de Guía, 8, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tel: 627 13 02 74
To see the sunset Another option is the bar of the hotel Guadalquivir, exactly where you park in la Calzada. The bar is on the last floor and it is the highest building in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. They are specialized in Gin. The view is very nice, the hotel was the first one built in the 70 s
If you want to be off track in Sanlúcar de Barrameda going to the direction of Bonanza, our favorites are
It is still in Sanlúcar in an area deserted by tourism, close to la plaza de torros on the direction of Bonanza
Calle Rubiños 43, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tel : 856 131 335
Aside of being a very good local restaurant, they do amazing wine degustation. As well you can buy their vermouth !
Av de Huelva 112D, 11540 Bonanza, Tel 956 38 07 51
On Saturday, Sunday, you ll see pretty often entire family having lunch here. It is very good with amazing value.
Calle central 14, la Algaida, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda
You will find there different dishes like deer, wild pig, … and all the traditionals
Calle Puerto de Barrameda 69, 11540 Sanlúcar de Barrameda
You can try an interesting specialty : Duck rice, with a duck that taste a little bit fish, a real one hunted some days before (in season)
